D300 profit share = Gross Operating Surplus / Value Added (BEA 3364OT), a formula series — components extended, ratio recomputed (never spliced).
NATO vs SIPRI — NATO's definition is broader (incl. pensions); expect NATO ≥ SIPRI.
Excluded series — one series, D297, is withheld from publication: a legacy year-2000-only extract, superseded by the BEA API series (D020–D024). Everything else in the registry is published.
Series without a download — XS035 (cost of major US wars) is cross-sectional rather than a time series, so it appears in the catalogue and the data dictionary but has no per-series CSV/Parquet file. That is why the download count is one lower than the published count.
Restored after review — XS033 and XS034 (historical federal defense and veterans' outlays, HSUS series Ea636–643) were briefly quarantined for a data-quality fault in July 2026 and were restored after a clean re-extraction that validates against known benchmarks (1865 = 88.9% and 1945 = 81.9% of federal outlays; 1970 reconciles with OMB budget function 050). They are published.
